If you consider the saying “Laughter is the best medicine” is only that - adage, you can think again. Seriously, it gives several health benefits to our body. You may be thinking this is a joke and laugh your heart out, but you need to start believing. Read on.

1. Laughter enhances the the circulation of blood in your veins. It also works to boost the flow of oxygen to your brain, heart and other organs. It also contributes in the lowering of the blood pressure. In the process, you are reducing your risk to heart problems, heart attacks and other health issues.

2. You'll have an oral and written exam or job interview tomorrow. Try to meet your buddies today and clown around. Afterwards, go back home and start your review. You will recognize that you are more attentive and that you can easily remember your notes. Things will have been different if you feel stressed out with the upcoming exam (or job interview) and you still attempt to stud y.

3. Laughter eliminates stress as it reduces the amount of stress hormones like adrenaline and cortisol in your body and at the same time increase endorphins, which improve your mood and relieve you from pain.

4. With laughter, you begin to look for a different light to your unfortunate situation. This is because it brings out more positive emotions and eliminates negativity as a result of anxiety and fear.

5. By chuckling every day, you are lessening your risk to colds and you are building defense against respiratory infections.

6. Laughing also offers significant contributions to your body's immune system because it increases the number of immune cells and antibodies that work to fight against infections thereby helping you to become more resistant to illness.

7. You are feeling very tired from work but your friends insist that you get together with them after office. At first, you are so quiet because of tiredness. But with your buddies throwing jokes one after the other, you can’t help but laugh out loud. Suddenly you feel revived. The physical tension has disappeared (or at least improved).

8. You are having a good laugh; now, it is time to pay attention to your body. Each time your funny friend cracks joke, you go out of breath, your heart rate is elevating and you feel ache in your abdominal muscle. It does feel like you are exercising in a gym, right? There is nothing to be surprised of because laughter is an excellent exercise. Truth is that laughing for 10 to 15 minutes allows you to get rid of 50 calories.

9. Typically, laughter may aid in the regulation of blood sugar levels in your body.

10. A good laugh every day helps you sleep better every evening. You feel more enjoyable as you lay your back in the bed.

Now, are you positive already? Well then, laugh each day. Aside from the health benefits of laughter, you also begin to improve your relationships with your partner, friends, co-workers, family and relatives and others. It also makes you feel self-confident about yourself.
